Let the Games Begin
I used to think meeting the Lord was the purpose of life — been there, done that, smooth sailing from here on out. But when He manifests Himself to you, it is not "game over, you have graduated." No — He receives, instructs, and puts you to work. He who is the greatest is the servant of all. Writing is the same: a best seller does not release you from the pen. That is not how becoming works.
For years I have watched countless souls strive to come to know the Lord, thinking the same thing I did. It is not so.
Think of the prophets of old. The Lord said, "Come and see" — and after showing them the vision, He put them to work. Likewise, becoming a writer requires you to write. Not one document, but daily. And not merely until you hit it big, but daily for the remainder of your days.
Further, coming to know the Lord is not about meeting Him for the sake of meeting Him. Likewise, you do not write merely for the sake of writing. Writing, like any talent, is given to bless your brothers and sisters — to exchange your gifts with the world.
Exchange for what? For additional gifts and talents, until you receive them all in full — in preparation for receiving all that the Father has. Never say you have enough, lest what has been given be taken away. In short, the exchange is to glorify God with your witness of recognizing Him in all things. In serving your brothers and sisters, you are in His service, and you bring joy into the lives of those you touch.
And this is not all. You write to make a record of what you know, lest you go to the grave with the book still in you — the book that could have lifted your neighbor. Woe unto him who hides his candle under a bushel, for he will answer for the witness he never made. Remember, remember to be free with your substance, that all may be rich like unto you.
Here is the deal: God is so loving and so generous that the moment you serve Him — including His children — He blesses you. You may not see it now, but the blessings are set in motion according to your obedience. So lift up your voice, whatever form it takes — writing, raising a child, magnifying a calling, sharing a talent.
The games have begun. Now go to work.
